They have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, and have mingled the holy race with the peoples around them. And the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.”
Ezra 9:2 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, I pray today for those whom You have given spiritual charge over us, those men and women whose lives are called to be an example to us of what it means to walk with You. Though I recognize that it is impossible for them to live sinless lives, You have called them to be “faultless” (1 Timothy 3:2). They have been called to provide for us an example of what a life committed to You looks like (1 Corinthians 11:1). In some instances, they are all we have when we are going through. I confess, that is a mighty tall order. Yet, they have embraced it, accepting the call You have placed on their lives.
I pray for them and their spiritual integrity. I pray that You would compel them to be the people You have called them to be, beyond reproach, in love with You, and that it would show in all that they do. Shield them from the wiles of this world, and give them spiritual fortitude to withstand the lure of the world. Surround them with Your angelic host, protecting them from the attacks of the enemy. Help them to resist and be an example for all of us what being a Christ follower looks like. I pray for their spiritual purity. Grip their hearts and continue to draw them into Your loving presence, granting them all that they truly stand in the need of, igniting the passion within their heart towards You. Be their all in all plus nothing. Fill their cup to overflowing. Open up the windows of Heaven and pour into their lives the grace and blessings that they day in and day out pour into the lives of others. Provide for their needs, especially their heart needs, so that they don’t go into the world seeking gratification from it. And Finally And let me, us, see the joy each and every day, that fills their heart, flowing from You to Your glory that we might long for it also in ours to Your glory. Amen.
