Of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs, and all their kinsmen under their command.
1 Chronicles 12:32
LORD, grant me wisdom that I might understand the times and know what to do, when to fight and when to make peace. Help me to major in the majors and minor in the minors, not being so moved by emotions or inclinations that I fail to see Your hand at work around me making things new. I confess that I can sometimes get so caught up in battling what appears to be the forces working against me that I cannot perceive the changes are coming from You and the transformation that You are bringing about in my midst. I can become so set in my old ways of doing things that when the new day is dawning I don’t budge but instead hold fast to a loyalty that You have intended me to break. LORD, like Issachar, who knew that the reign of Saul and his family had passed and that it was time to forge a new alliance with David, show me when I need to let go of that which I am holding on to, breaking a loyalty built on what is in the past, and to grasp hold of the new thing that You are bringing to pass in my life. Raise up around me people who can speak truth into my life, opening my eyes to see Your fingerprints, and help me to not only recognize it, but have the courage to step out in faith. My soul rejoices this day knowing that You are indeed making all things new. Grant me what I stand in the need of to embrace the new, understanding the times and knowing what to do. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
