So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny.
Job 23:14 (NLT)
Today, LORD, as we take a moment to remember those who gave their lives in service to this country, my mind cannot help but reflect upon all the turmoil right now both in this country and abroad. From wars in foreign lands to the lack of civil discourse here, there is no peace as tensions fill the air, while those who know You are asking, “Where are You, LORD?” Like Job, we often find ourselves wondering how You could let this happen. There is a huge faction that would profess that this is a Christian country. Yet, we don’t look Christlike. And as suffering continues to expand, I cannot help but ask how much longer?
I thank You for reminding me of Your sovereignty and control today. Thank You for letting me know that You indeed have control over my destiny, and that You indeed want the best for me. You have promised to cause all things to work out for my good (Romans 8:28), reminding me that I will get ahead and not be relegated forever to the back of the line (Deuteronomy 28:13). What I am experiencing here and now is only for a season; in the end it will be well (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).
So, I look to You, Master, submitted to whatever plans You have for me this day and every day. You control my destiny; my future is in Your hands. I trust You with every aspect of my being, knowing that Your love for me shall prevail. I refuse to get bent out of shape and worry about all the going ons around me because I know that are in control, and that nothing comes my way except if first passes through Your hands. Have Your way today and everyday in my life to the glory of my Savior, in Whose Name I pray. Amen.
