I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
Psalms 130:5 (NIV)
Good morning Father. At the cusp of this brand new day my soul has a righteous anticipation of what You shall do before my very eyes. This day is filled with many possibilities, opportunities for me to behold Your glory and might at work in my midst.
So often when I rise up I am immediately overtaken by all of the challenges – real and anticipated – that I will face within the span of the 24 hours before me. Yet today, my soul is fixed on seeing You manifest Your goodness and mercy before me. My eyes seek to behold You in every aspect and detail of this day – from the fluttering of a butterfly to the gentle pouring of the rain; from the chirping of the birds to the benevolent smiles I encounter. LORD, My soul thirsts and hungers to see YOU!
So, I lay my soul before You in worship, with my heart filled with praise, glorying in Who You are and what You have brought to pass before my very eyes. I thank You for this new day that You have bestowed upon me, a day I do not deserve but one that I shall cherish. It is with this heart of worship that I come to You, casting every weight, burden and care at Your feet, asking that You would take my mind off of the things of this world that I might relish in the savory splendor of the things in Heaven.
I look to You, Father, You Who is my peace, to fill me with Your precious Spirit, as I walk in fellowship with Your Son, that Friend Who sticks closer than a brother, that I might have peace throughout this entire day. Help me to keep this a day of worship and praise to You, not distracted but the temporary things of this world, but my heart fixed on the precious promises that You have for me in Christ Jesus. It is in His Name I pray and to Him be the glory! Amen.
