For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it.

Job 33:14 (ESV)

Father God, give me a receptive heart today to hear Your voice. As I open Your Word speak to me from its pages, opening my eyes that I might observe the workings of my heart, knowing myself even as You know me, seeing myself even as You see me. Remove the blinders that I habitually put up clouding my vision of myself, refusing to see what is plain to You and often to others. Instead, show me who I am in the moment and through these self sightings reveal to me who You purpose for me to be.

I know that You are continually speaking to me, revealing Yourself and Your will to me. Whether through Your primary source, Your Word, or soft, quiet unctions spoken to my spirit, or through the people and circumstances surrounding me You are continually drawing my soul closer to You, urging me to embrace You and Your truths regarding myself and this world. It is my stubborn, unbelieving nature that resists Your prodding, questioning what my spirit knows to be true, asking that age old question, “Did God really say?”

Well, today my soul rushes to Your throne and cries out, “Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening!” However You choose to speak to me today, I purpose to receive. What ever method You choose I shall not disregard. For today, my sole desire is to hear a word from You. Thank You for the very sure promise that You will do just that (Psalm 32:8). When You knock, LORD, I will answer (Revelation 3:20). Amen.
