I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.

Psalms 2:7 (ESV)

Father God, there is a twofold rejoicing in my heart this day. I am so grateful that You have declared me Your child. I am Yours – flaws, hangups, mess ups, when I get it right and when I get it wrong – completely and totally Yours! I am part of Your family. Not like in a marriage where one partner can get sick of the other and say we’re through. No. You have adopted me and made me Yours. I was purchased with blood, and forever am part of Your “peeps”! Hallelujah!

But this reality was only made possible because of the second reason why I rejoice today. It all happened because Your true and only begotten Son, Jesus, Whom You declared as such (Matthew 3:17, Mark 1:11, Luke 3:22) came, saw me and died for me. As the songwriter declared, “He didn’t have to do it, but He did!” And that’s what He did! He was and is Your only begotten Son (John 3:16), and He loves me (John 15:9) and calls me His friend (John 15:15). In Him and through Him I not only have life (Acts 17:28), but also have access to You (Ephesians 2:18)! You loved me so much that You sent Him to bring me home (Romans 5:8)! Who would do such a thing? And yet, You and He did! Glory to His Name!

Today, I worship You, praising You and lifting up the Name of Jesus! Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Who acts the guarantee of Your promises to me (Ephesians 1:13-14), I lay my life down, even as my Savior laid down His. I am Yours; my life Yours (Galatians 2:20). Have Your way today. I worship, my God and my King! Amen!
