You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day.

2 Chronicles 6:15

Father God, there is a saying, “Promises are made to be broken.” That is the reality of the world that I live in. I cannot tell You how many promises folks have made to me that have not been kept. Whether they were relationship promises, performance promises, or delivery promises, I expected something for the other party to bring to pass only to find out that they reneged on it. I wish I could say that I am only the weary recipient of those let downs. But, as You know, the reality is that I often have been the perpetrator. And the tragedy of it is that you really can’t make it up to the person you let down. This, is a heavy load to and burden to carry.

My soul rejoices today in knowing that You are the ultimate Promise Keeper. If You said it, that settles it. In one of my favorite verses that I hold fast to, You said that Your Word will not return to You void but will accomplish all that You purpose (Isaiah 55:10-11). And to ensure that my jacked up behavior does not preclude me from receiving Your promises, You sent Jesus, and hid me in Him so that when You see me, You see Him (Colossians 3:3)! Because of His and Your love for me, all of the promises You have made are now mine (2 Corinthians 1:30)! And like those blessed kings in Revelation, I realize that the good that comes my way is not because of anything I have brought to the party but because of Your grace, causing me to take off all the crowns of my accomplishments and cast them at Your feet! What a Mighty God You are!

So today I just want to thank You for being the Fulfiller of all of my hopes and dreams. Thank You for being faithful in all that You do, keeping all of Your promises to me. Help me to live my life today and everyday as an example of what it means to be a promise keeper, reflecting Your glory in all I say and do in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
