Listen to me, descendants of Jacob, all you who remain in Israel. I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.

Isaiah 46:3-4 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, arising this morning I can truly say that I am not the same person I was 10 years ago. My body can’t seem to fully recover from the day before. Shucks, my midsection surely doesn’t look like it did then! I’m a step slower, my reaction time is not what it used to be. My thoughts are often jumbled with the cares and concerns of this world. I have to intenionally stop and take the time to smell the roses to take in all the beauty that You have wrought this Spring. My life is more complicated, more stressful, more pressing. I have more to do and less time to do it. With age has come responsibility, worries, and cares.

Today, my soul has found a sense of peace in these verses. Though I’m not what I used to be, You are the same. Though the world feels so heavy on my shoulders, You are reminding me that it has been, and always will be, You carrying the load. You have always been there and will always be there! You have taken care of me and will always take care of me. What a relief for my soul!

So, as I embark on this day, and every day, facing the challenges ahead, I am grateful that You will be there carrying me through. Thank You for holding on tight to me. My grip gets loose sometimes. But I know You’ve got me, holding me up. My soul gets great joy in knowing that I am held fast in Your hands. Thank You for taking care of me, always being there for me, for promising to always be here for me. Amen.
