You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.
2 Corinthians 1:11 (ESV)
Lord, I so often feel guilty for not being to help others more. When someone comes to me with a need I feel this internal urge to figure out what I can do to lean in and help them. I confess, the word I first learned as a child is one of the hardest for me to say: no.
Yet today – an actually many days before this moment – I have heard Your voice speaking to my spirit reminding me that I am not You. I cannot save anyone. The help I bring is only, at best, temporary and on the surface. Only You can remedy what ails Your people. And this morning, I hear You asking me, “How much have You prayed?”
I thank You for the reminder that there is true help, true assistance, and true overcoming power in prayer. I thank You for challenging that carnal mindset that says “all I can do” or “the least I can do” is pray. The best I can do is pray! My meager leaning in but scratches the surface on the aid required in the moment. Only You can make a true difference.
So today, please continue to remind me of the primacy of prayer. Continue to convict me when I don’t pray enough for my loved ones and friends, those in my sphere of influence, my companies, my schools, my government – everything and everyone. Continue to remind me that prayer truly does help, that many blessings are only granted through prayer, and that I must help through prayer. Make me a prayer warrior to Your glory. Amen.
