God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

Psalm 46:1-3

Lord Jesus, as the enemy attempts to steal my joy, bombarding me with his attacks, and as my flesh is weighed down by the heavy burdens that come with just everyday living, and as my soul is troubled by the conflicts that are going on without and within me, I cling to the knowledge that You are my refuge, You are my strength, You are my very very very present help in trouble! I confess that sometimes it does feel as if the earth is trembling beneath my feet and the waves are overcoming me. Sometimes it feels as if my soul is being cast into the depths of the sea, a mountain of troubles dropped after me on my head. Yet, despite all that I know that You are my refuge and my strength, a very very very present help in trouble!

So today, I rush to my hiding place in You. Like a small child afraid of the dark, I cover my head with the blanket of Your love where there is warmth, peace and security. Even as the blanket envelopes that child’s body, I know Your love will envelope mine, granting me the peace and comfort that my soul longs for. Today I find my peace in Your Word as it speaks to my spirit, reminding me who I am and Whose I am! With this knowledge I pause and take my spiritual “Selah.”

I know that You are not just God, but my God. Be still my soul and see the deliverance of my God.
