Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.
Isaiah 53:11
Lord Jesus, as I meditate on what You went through for me, my soul jumps with awe and joy. My spirit is overwhelmed as I reflect on the fact that You loved me so much that You willingly went through what You went through for me. Even now I cannot understand it or comprehend it. As Romans declares, very rarely will one die for a righteous person even though we might think about doing so (Romans 5:8), I am in that camp. Yes, I will go out of my way for a “good” person. But only so far. Yet, You went beyond “going out of Your way.” You gave Your life. You died! And not for good folks! For people like me, who before knowing You had no time for the things of God, did whatever was right in our own eyes, and satisfied our worldly longings! Yet, in Your suffering, You saw the greater plan, You saw folks like me in desperate need of salvation, and You gave Your life for me! And in doing so, You have given me Your righteousness, washing my sins away, and making me one with You! You changed my identity. You changed my life. I am now hidden in You. Hallelujah!
As I worship You throughout this day and find myself suffering for whatever reason, I pray that You would continually remind me that You are faithful. Even as You demonstrated Your faithfulness to the Father as You endured the cross, You have demonstrated Your faithfulness to me throughout my life. I have no reason to doubt You. So grant me the wherewithal in the moment to surrender all the challenges, obstacles and difficulties to You, entrusting my life to You, knowing that You will take care of me (1 Peter 4:19). Amen.
