When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. But the LORD’S portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage.

Deuteronomy 32:8-9

Lord, You know as I read these verses this morning that my mind went back to my childhood when I was playing with other children and us taking turns in choosing who would have which toy or be on which team or would go first. I remembered the joy I would get when it was determined through “eenie meenie minee moe” that I got to have first pick. I then could had a full selection of all that was out, choosing the option that I wanted.

My heart explodes with joy to think that You have declared that I am amongst those that You call Your portion, Your choice! Honestly, my soul needed to hear that this morning because I so often feel either left behind, unloved, or  just second-hand. Yet to know that the Sovereign Creator of the universe picked me, chose me (Deuteronomy 7:6, 1 Peter 2:9) reminds me that I have value to You. You have set me apart for a special purpose that only I can do. Yes, there will be others who can do what I can do. But not in the places and situations that You place me in. I have been specifically chosen to be that person in that moment. And by Your Holy Spirit I intend to be just that!

Fill me with Your Spirit today and help me to walk boldly, with godly confidence, into the events and circumstances of this day. Continue to remind me that You are with me, guiding and directing me, giving me what to say in the moment, and causing all things to work out for Your glory and my good. Thank You for loving me so much and seeing the value in me to choose me, making me amongst those You call Your portion. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
