Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding.
Job 38:4
Abba Father, You are supreme in all of Your power and unsearchable in all of Your wisdom! Indeed, I cannot fully comprehend the execution of Your will, nor fully understand Your ways. I am but human, my knowledge limited to my faculties. When I look at the works of Your hands, and that which You ordain to take place, I must confess that it is too great for me! How You cause the innerworkings of all mankind, the decisions which we individually make in alignment with our own personal choices, to bring to pass Your perfect will – it is more than I can comprehend! Yet, that is the God that You are! And how dare I ever question what You are doing!
Today, I pray for Your peace and Your love to prevail. You reminded me last night in Your Word that You have loved Your people with an everlasting love. Because of this You have continued to demonstrate Your faithfulness toward us (Jeremiah 31:3). I confess that sometimes I believe I can define what that faithfulness should look like. I fall in line with so many people in both the saved and unsaved communities by defining it as better food and gas prices, feeling safer in my communities, getting more and better opportunities, or even being accepted.
However, that is not walking by faith. On the contrary, that is putting myself in the place of being God. You said in this world I will have troubles (John 16:33). Yet I define favor as the lack thereof. You never intended for me to get too comfortable or too happy with this life because this is not my home (Hebrews 13:4). Instead, You have called me to go and share with the world the glorious gift of true life that we have given us in Your Son. So, today, it is my prayer that You would enable me to be an ambassador of hope and love. Use me to remind someone that You are still on the throne. Let my love be obvious (John 13:34-35), my gentleness felt (Philippines 4:5), and my service experienced (Romans 15:3). I leave all the rest to You, knowing that You are in control, and trusting You to cause all things to work together for my good and Your glory in Jesus’ Name.
