Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always here.
John 7:6 (ESV)
Lord Jesus, this morning there are so many ways in which I wish You would show up in my life today. There is so much I would like for You to do in me and for me. Yet, my spirit hears You telling me that Your time is not my time. I hear Your voice telling my spirit to be patient. I hear Your Word declaring they that wait on the LORD.
In the same voice, LORD, I hear You commanding me to work while it is day, that my call is to be always ready, always “on.” There is, within me, this tension between waiting on You to act and guide in my life and me doing today what I know or, in some instances, believe You are telling me to do right now. Those words in John 7:6 ring in my head, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always here.” I must work while it is day!
Therefore, today, while I wait for You to show up in my situations, I diligently press on, doing the work You have called me to do. Open my eyes today to the harvest that You have ripened before me and enable me to glean fruit to Your glory from the efforts I put forth. As I love others, cause them to feel Your love. As I serve others, cause them to experience Your touch. As I give to others, show them Your divine provision. Let me be Your heart, hands, and blessing to others today while I wait patiently for Your appearance in my circumstances. Glorify Yourself in me and through me. And at the same time, have Your way and peace be still my soul. Amen.
