Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

James 5:16

LORD, I know that when I confess my sins to You that You not only forgive but also cleanse me of my unrighteousness. For this I say thank You. Yet, today my soul is pondering the reality that You have called me to confess beyond just You. I know that it is Your desire that I confess to those whom I’ve hurt. Though difficult, it is made easy by the fact that I don’t want to live in enmity with anyone. Yet, the confession You have called me to through this verse goes even beyond that. You have called me to confess to other believers, revealing to them how I fall short, so they can pray with me. LORD, that is hard! I confess that I am afraid to be that transparent with others. To do so can potentially change their perspective of me. LORD, what will they think?

LORD, I pray for Your strength today. Through this verse You are reminding me that at the end of my confession there is always healing, that the prayers that I am soliciting are powerful. Through them You transform me and the person praying for me. Give me the courage to put myself out there, being vulnerable, so that the power of the Holy Spirit can be seen in me and through me as You change me.

This, Master, is a faith walk. Show me who I need to expose myself to and give them a gentle spirit to receive me, pray for me, and hold me up before You. Help me, also, to do the same for someone else. Make me a safe space for them, that they might not have the same fears that I have when they approach me. But instead, let them know that I will love them unconditionally, and that their secrets are safe with me to Your glory in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
