And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.
Nehemiah 8:3b
LORD, I pray that You would give me ears to hear and a heart that is attentive to Your Word at all times, whether it is read, preached, taught, or even quoted in my presence. Give me a spiritual curiosity that seeks to know You better through it, delving into its secrets and uncovering the hidden things of You. Give me the patience to wrestle with that which I do not understand, and the humility to ask for help when I find myself at an impasse.
LORD, my soul marvels at the intricacies and details of Your Word. I am amazed at how it pertains to all aspects of life today. Its timeless relevance compels me to go to it when I need answers to my life’s challenges. And it has never failed me.
LORD, what I love most about Your Word is that in it I learn more about You and by it You speak daily to me. It is through Your Word that You reveal Yourself to me, showing me Who You are, what You are like, what You desire, and what Your will is for me as I look to respond to life’s circumstances. Your Word pulls back the curtain that separates the mortal from the immortal, and enables me to have intimacy with You.
LORD, I want to be a person who is always ready, eager, and willing to hear what You have to say to me and to all mankind. Continue to speak to me through Your Word. As I continue to give it a place of primacy in my life, hiding it in my heart, use it to transform me through the power of the Holy Spirit that I might live a life that is pleasing to You, walking hand in hand with my Savior Jesus Christ, on my journey towards Your throne to Your glory. Amen.
