And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.”
Acts 3:4 (ESV)
Lord Jesus, give me examples today to look at, women and men whose love for You is so great, so intense, so life altering, that when I look upon them I can see Your glory exuding out of their pores, Your Spirit filling them to overflowing, so much so that my soul cries out within me, “I must understand what they have done to get that close to my Savior!”
I, like that invalid, often feel like I am just outside of the glorious Beautiful Gate, just out of the reach of You, begging for someone – anyone – to come into my life and touch me. Though Your Word promises me that You are always near, I walk around with this 18” problem – my heading knowing but my heart doubting. I can hear by flesh saying to me at times, “Did God really say?” And in that quiet space, that utter silence, that I long for You to just speak like You spoke to Elijah (1 Kings 19:10) and Job (Job 4:16)! And how many times have You sent a word to me from someone out of the blue, to say something that is to them innocuous, but to me is Heaven sent?
So today, please sensitize the spirits of Your servants who surround me, and speak through them to me. I don’t know what I need to hear. But I do know that I long to just see You at work around me and in me. You have done it so many times this week. I just don’t want it to stop. My soul longs and thirsts for You (Psalm 63:1)! Satisfy my soul with Your glorious presence (Psalm 107:9). And however You choose to use me, have Your way! Amen!
