And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” And the LORD said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.”
Judges 6:15-16
Lord Jesus, I so often doubt myself. Though I believe I know what I should be doing in the moment, in the back of my mind looms the question, “Did God really say?” When I look at the task at hand, how insurmountable it may appear, I quickly wonder in my mind whether I am up to tackling it. Lord, in short, I really do doubt myself. And rightfully so, because in and of myself I really am not up to the task.
Today, my soul finds comfort in knowing first and foremost that You are with me. No matter where I go or what You are calling me to do in the moment You have not left me alone but are right there with me. That is good news! I don’t have to contend with it alone. I have the confidence that comes from knowing that You are with me through it all.
I find even more comfort in the fact that You guarantee the success. It is not me. I am but the vessel that You choose to use in the moment. That gives me great comfort because it does not depend upon what I bring but instead upon what You will. Help me today to walk in that reality, knowing that You are in complete and total control. I place my trust in You. Be glorified. Amen.
