Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments…He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.
Psalm 112:1, 7 (ESV)
It is amazing, Lord Jesus, how You bring words of encouragement into the lives of Your people as we navigate through the issues of life! Troubles seem to never cease to come our way. Yesterday, as I laid my head down to sleep, on my mind was the critical life or death health conditions of multiple loved ones, the long trip that I must embark on today, and the prayer request from a friend for a church member whose granddaughter has been missing since Saturday. My heart rested heavy on my pillow. And today, when I lifted my head, You placed the words of the song “Amazing” into my head and put the words of these verses before my eyes! Even now, those lyrics ring in my head: “I stand amazed at Your glory. I stand amazed at Your grace. I stand amazed at Your power. So amazing. Amazing!”
Today, Lord Jesus, continue to speak Your words into the hearts of Your servants, reminding us of Who You are, of Your unfailing love, and Your never ending care for us. At every turn of this journey today speak a word into our souls from Your Word, for in it we rest confidently, knowing in Whom we have trusted and knowing that You will take care of us!
Lord, I know that bad news is going to come. That is just the way of life on this side of eternity. We actually cannot be fully prepared for what is coming around the corner. We will be confronted with heartaches, to varying frequencies and levels. But, glory, none of it is beyond Your reach! In the midst of it all we can have confidence that neither the world, the enemy, nor our own broken selves has the final say. You do! And You will take care of us! Hallelujah!
So today, I cast my cares upon You because You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). No matter how much comes my way I will look to You for my sure deliverance (Psalm 34:19). Wherever I must go today or tomorrow, I place my trust in You to get me there and back safely (Psalm 121:8). And for me, my loved ones and those who I am connected to, both close and distant, I pray for the hedge of protection that You have provided the saints of old. In You, Lord Jesus, I have, we have, all that we need. I look to You and Your Word today for the comfort and assurance of soul that I need. Amen.
How joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in obeying his commands…They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. Psalm 112:1-7 (NLT)
