Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!”

Psalm 35:26

Lord, my soul is overwhelmed with gladness this day as I reflect upon not only how righteous You are, but more so how You have not turned Your back on Your servant despite my brokenness. The good that I do is only because You have enabled me to do so. And even then, I taint its results with the stains of my sinfulness. Yet despite all that, You take great joy in me, delighting to do good to me! As Zephaniah so gloriously puts it, You rejoice over me with singing! Who is like You? What have I done to deserve such a show of love? My soul just can’t help but say, “Hallelujah! Glory to God in the highest!”

Today I praise and lift You up. I cling to the joy that I have in Christ, knowing that through His blessed sacrifice He has not only secured me for eternity but has given me something that is beyond my understanding – a glimmer into the throne room where I can see my God Who takes great delight in me, no longer judging me, Who wants the best for me. When things are not going my way and I feel as if I am all alone, I can say with David, “You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grains and wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.” You are the center of my joy! You are my heart’s supreme desire.

Today, I praise and worship You. I thank You for loving me before I even knew You, and saving me before I even knew I was lost. Thank You, Lord, for this uncontainable joy that I have in You. Allow me to rest in it. Amen.
