John answered them, “I baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know, even he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.”
John 1:26-27 (ESV)
Lord Jesus, I come before You grateful and humble this morning. I am grateful because You have blessed me beyond my ability to recognize and understand. The ways You have made, the obstacles You have enabled me to traverse, the paths that You have made clear literally blows my mind! I could not have made it this far had it not been for You. And to think, You have graciously chosen to use me to be a blessing to others, and for them to bless me. I know how broken I am. I know the foul thoughts I harbor. I know how far I am from being a good and faithful servant. Yet, You still use me. Why? Because You have chosen me. I am so humbled by it! I am not worthy!
I confess today that I don’t deserve all that You have done for me, through me and by me. All the good that I bring to the game is filthy and foul. Yet, You use my words and actions to impact the lives of others. You take the little that I have and cause it to overflow in blessings. Why? Because You have purposed to bring glory to Your Name through the likes of me! Indeed, I am not worthy to untie the straps of Your shoes or to wash Your feet! What You do through broken vessels like me amazes me. I stand in awe of You, Lamb of God, and worship You this morning.
So, Lord, thank You for loving me in spite of me. Thank You for seeing me along the side of the road – leprous, begging and broken – and calling me to You, making me whole, and compelling me to follow You. Thank You for the path You have led me on, a path that I can honestly say that has not been easy and I have not always followed faithfully, but one that You have spiritually pulled me along the way, filling me with Your love, and shielding me from hurt, harm and danger. Thank You for Your everlasting love for me. Help me to hold fast to You and Your ways, not to be deceived by my flesh, but instead enraptured in Your love. You are not just Lord. You are MY Lord! Glory, hallelujah! Praises to Your Name! Amen!
