And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone…

Matthew 14:23

Father God, I steal away this morning, away from the hustle and bustle of life, to take a moment just to connect with You. In a world filled with distractions it is easy for me to forget that You are always there in the midst of the chaos, bringing order where there is disorder, and peace where there is turmoil. Though my mind gravitates towards the place where there is activity, I have found that when I just steal away to a quiet place and call upon Your Name that I find calm that I so desperately need. This morning I come to Your throne, away from all the troubles and cares of this world, to find You and Your presence. LORD, speak to my heart. Give me the reassurance that everything is going to be all right. Grant me an inward serenity that draws its strength from knowing that You love me and are in control of all things. In the midst of this world where I regularly experience sensory overload as I attempt to sort through the mayhem, help me to leave it all behind me in order that I might find Your perfect peace which passes all understanding. Breathe on me, LORD, breathe on me. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
