The LORD will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Psalms 121:7-8 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, there is a song that rings in my spirit this morning: “I need Thee, oh I need Thee. Every hour, I need Thee. Pass me not, oh gentle Savior, I come to Thee.” It sums up my heart’s condition this day – I need You. I need You to be in all of my thoughts today. I need You to be in all of my engagements today. I need You to guide my decision making today. I need You to direct my path today. Left to my own devices I will make a mess of everything! I’m like a blind person groping through life without You. Lord, I need You!
Even as this psalm begins with those words of encouragement that You are my help, One Who never slumbers nor sleeps, my soul finds peace in knowing that You are watching over me. And it’s not as an inactive spectator, like what I do when I’m watching a sporting event or at the movie theater. Your watching is about keeping me from hurt, harm and danger. Your watching is about guiding and directing me. Your watching is about ensuring that all things work together for my good. Your watching is about manifesting Your will in my life. And it does not stop today. It is always and forever! Oh praise and glory to Your Name!
As I embark on this week, please keep me ever mindful that I have not and will not be left to my own devices. Continue to help me keep at the forefront of my mind that the Creator and Sustainer of the universe not only loves me but is watching over me. Give my soul the peace that comes from knowing that You see me and care about me. I am Yours and I am so glad about it. Thank You, Jesus! Amen.
