I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.
2 Timothy 1:5
Father God, I thank You today for those who You have used to plant seeds into my life that have blossomed into the faith I now have in You. Thank You for the love that they had both for You and for me that they could not stand to see me go without the greatest gift of all – life in Jesus Christ. Because they thought it to be a travesty to withhold such a blessed gift, they poured out their love for me as demonstrated in their testimony to me of Your faithfulness in their lives. Through their witness I was able to see that there was indeed something different about them, an intangible element that separated them from those around them. I would learn that what separated them was not a “what” but instead a “Who.” Through their witness and prayers the seeds of faith were planted and sprung up into a tree of life in my heart, a faith in You and the work of Your Son to save. Because of them I know You. And because of them I know You better.
Use me today to be that to someone else. Through my testimony help me to plant the seeds of faith in the life of someone else, pointing them to You, the God of all the earth, Creator and Sustainer of all that there is. Let my witness be for them like the witness of those who went before me, either the beginning of something wonderful and new in their life, or the water that nourishes something that already exists. It is my prayer that You would take all that I do and bring forth the increase that You, my God, might be glorified in Christ’s finished work. I pray this in His Name!
