For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, “Surely I will bless you and multiply you.” And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.

Hebrews 6:13-15 (ESV)

Lord Jesus, those five words are ringing in my mind this morning, “God can and God will.” In them, they solidify the marriage between faith and hope in my heart. By faith they speak to what I believe You are able to do. By hope they hold fast to what I am waiting in anticipation for You to do. As I navigate through the challenges of this day, they speak to the power of Your redemptive work in my life and the surety of the promises I have in Him!

I pray today for patience to wait, knowing that You will indeed bring to past all that You have promised to do in my life and the lives of those I love and care about. I pray for the strength and spiritual stamina to stay the course despite the strenuous opposition that I may have from internal and external forces. When You declare “surely” to me, help me to hold on and not doubt, knowing Your words to be “sho’ nuff”!  Eliminate the doubt, uncertainty and fear that so often comes into my mind, granting me the resolve that declares, “God said it. That settles it.”

Lord, my life is not my own. I am Yours. You know totally and completely what is best for me. You are guiding and directing me on the path that I am walking. You know the plans You have for me. My wants and desires in this life are trumped by my love and desire to serve You, and one day, rest in Your presence. So today, I purpose to wait patiently on You in all that I am going through, knowing who I am and Whose I am. Have Your way. Take Your time. But even so, come Lord Jesus (Revelation 22:20)! Amen!
