As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.
Proverbs 27:19 (NIV)
Father God, as I start this day off, it is my prayer that my life might reflect my heart towards You. It is my prayer that when folks see me they might not see me but instead see my Savior in me. I desire for my actions to reflect the love I have for Him, my care for others the fruit of the changed life that I have been privileged to experience by His sacrifice. I pray that love might pour out of me into the lives of all who come into contact with me even as Your love was poured into me through the love of Jesus.
Remove from me the selfishness, bitterness, fear, and other fruit of the flesh that skew folks’ perception of what it means to be a child of God. Purge from me all self-righteous, arrogant, “mightier than thou” mindsets that get in the way of folks seeing Jesus in me, and replace it with humility, gentleness, and meekness. Remind me that I have nothing to defend, nothing to protect, and nothing to hide. Instead, I have boundless love to give. And let the mind of Christ lead me and guide me this day, that I might serve even as He served, sacrifice even as He sacrificed, and submit even as He submitted.
Use me, Father, that my life might reflect who I am and Whose I am, that when folks see me that might glorify You for the work that You have done and are doing in me and through me in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
