We went on ahead to the ship and sailed for Assos, where we were going to take Paul aboard. He had made this arrangement because he was going there on foot.

Again Paul wanted us to split up. He wanted to go by land by himself while we went by ship to Assos.

Quiet time. It’s that time, Lord, where I follow in Your footsteps and steal away to be with You, away from the “noise” of life, like You stole away to be with the Father. It is that time where, in isolation, I can engage with You, see You for Who You truly are, and see me for who I truly am. It is that time where I intentionally get away from the noise of life to be with You.
I thank You this morning for Your faithfulness in meeting me there. I confess I don’t always come with the right motives or in the right frame of mind. But You always show up – sometimes with a loud, thunderous revelation of Yourself, with fanfare, trains and throngs, and the glory cloud. Other times – and more often than not – in a soft, calming whisper in a verse that pops out at me, seen as with a set of eyes that have never seen it before. But what causes my heart to rejoice this morning is the fact that You always show up. Thank You, Jesus.
So today, on this “soft, calming whisper show up day,” I ask that as I walk by myself on foot towards the “Assos” that You have set as my destination that You would just walk with me. It is not for the world to know what You are working on within me. This is intimate to You and I. I just long for fellowship with You, be in Your presence, experience Your loving touch. I want to feel held in the hollow of Your hands. I want to just find my peace and rest in You in this moment. So help me throughout this day to just walk with You in the stillness of my soul. Amen.
