For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. Hebrews 2:10
Lord Jesus, my soul rejoices this day, declaring You are amazing! Through Your suffering You have granted me and all who call upon Your Name access to Your perfection! In You all of my sins have been forgiven, all transgressions – past, present and future – washed away. By Your stripes I am made whole. You suffered that I might have eternal life with You! What You have done for me is so very amazing! It is easy for me to take this great and wonderful salvation for granted because it cost me nothing and cost You everything.
As I meditate on the fact that in Your suffering You have made this great salvation of mine perfect, I am reminded that I am, as Paul exclaimed, “filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body.” I will go through trials and tribulations this day. I will be tested and my faith stretched. I will be mistreated and persecuted, being called upon in the moment to hold my tongue and demonstrate Your love in a tangible way. I pray today for Your grace to do just that. As I go through let others see my challenges and suffering, the loss that I am experiencing and the pain that I am enduring, and see it in the context of the God that I am serving. Do not let me falter, but instead hold me up so that they will understand that I am not trusting in myself or my abilities, but that I am relying solely on You.
Give me a heart like Yours that forgives the unforgivable and loves the unlovable. Cause me to see the rejected and dejected, and usher them under the cover of Your grace. Help me to cast a glimmer of You on them, shining from the inside of me, bringing light to the darkness in their world. Use me, Lord Jesus, to restore hope and remind the world that You are a God who loves them with an everlasting love. Help me to bring glory to Your Name. And then I can make sense out of the mess that is life around me. Be exalted through me. I pray this in Your Name. Amen.
