But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.
Matthew 13:16 (ESV)
Lord Jesus, thank You for eyes that see and ears that hear. The fact that I can see the works of Your hands all around me and can hear Your voice speaking to the depths of my soul has changed my life, transformed my soul, and fills me with unspeakable joy! My soul revels in the fact that I can see the intricate works of Your hands all around me, my spiritual mind connecting the dots of the outworking of Your will in my midst, Your Spirit showing them to me and speaking to my spirit that I might not just see but also understand. You open Your Word to me as I read its pages and take in every jot and tittle, making sense of it and painting a glorious picture of Your redemptive plan for me and this world. Who would not marvel at this divine outpouring of Your love?
I confess that sometimes my vision problems get in the way. Sometimes I am nearsighted, missing the big picture and only seeing what is right here and right now. Or I’m farsighted, so focused on where I’m going that I don’t see the impact I’m having where I am. Or worse, I’m astigmatic, the whole picture is fuzzy and I’m bumping into myself and others! And in times that like, it would be great if my hearing was good, but I either can have a tinnitus ring in my ears distracting me from hearing Your soft voice or be completely deaf all-together and miss what You are saying! It is in those times and instances that my soul rejoices that You are the Master Physician, opening eyes, unstopping ears, but more importantly, guiding Your people. And I’m not ashamed to admit I need Your touch!
So today, continue to speak, Lord. Continue to show me the unfolding of the Father’s will in my life and the lives of those around me. Continue to beckon me to draw closer to You so You can apply the salve of Your love, Your precious blood, to my broken eyes, ears and heart, that I might see Your works more clearly, hear Your words more succinctly, and most importantly, love You more dearly. You are my all-in-all plus nothing! There is nothing on this side of eternity that I want more than You. Fill me with Your precious Holy Spirit that He might guide me and direct me, drawing my attention to what You are doing all around me and speaking to the depths of my soul. And cause me to marvel in the unfolding plans of the Father as I stand amazed, taking in the manifestation of Your glory in this world! Thank You for eyes that see and ears that hear. Amen!
