Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

Luke 24:45 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, open my mind today to understand the Scriptures, grasping what it says about me and my living, but more so about Who You are, Your love for me, and how I can serve You in a way that glorifies You most. Show me the mysteries hidden in its pages and thrill my soul with the yet to be fulfilled promises that You have for me and those who love and trust You.

Lord, in it I have everything I need for life and godliness. It opens up to me the way of righteousness, showing me what is Your good, perfect and acceptable will. By it I can order my life in a manner that is pleasing to You, seeking You first and Your Kingdom. It indeed is a lamp to my feet and light to my path.

Yet, most importantly it shows me Who You are, disclosing to me the mystery of the ages, Your precious sacrifice on my behalf. With each word You open up to me more and more about Your person, giving me a glimmer of Your glory. In it and through it I learn of the Father, His love, and His plan; I learn of You, Your faithfulness, and Your sacrifice; I learn of the Holy Spirit, His work, and His power. My God – three Persons, One God – manifested in this world, revealed to His servants, and glorified forever. That is Who You are! And it is marvelous in my eyes! Hallelujah!

Lord, continue to thrill my soul with each word declared in this ancient writ. As I study to show myself approved, let my efforts not come up fruitless, but daily speak to my heart through the words of this glorious Text, preserved for all time, declaring Who You are, Whose I am, and what You are bringing to pass. As I sit on the edge of my seat delving into Your Word, open up to me the glorious promises that You have, not just for me, but for all who call upon Your Name. And grant me the words that I might be able to share with others the wonders of Your Person and the glory that is revealed in the Scriptures concerning the Father’s plans for us. In Your Holy Name I pray. Amen!
