That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath. But the servants of Achish said to him, “Isn’t this David, the king of the land? Isn’t he the one they sing about in their dances: “‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands’?”

1 Samuel 21:10-11 (NIV)

Father, I know Your hands are upon me. When I reflect back upon what You wrought in my life I cannot help but fall down at Your feet in worship. You have done great things for me! My soul even now gives You praise for paths You have led me on and the grace You have shown me. Great, indeed is Thy faithfulness!

I stand amazed this morning not just by what You have done in my life but also by what You are doing right now. What boggles my mind most is how others can see it and I often cannot. Like the servants of Achish acknowledged, saw, that David was king of the land before he did, I often walk around unaware of the elevations that You have placed me, not knowing or seeing Your blessings upon my life while others marvel in it. And I am puzzled at what they are saying! Like David, I can be so consumed with the urgency of right now that I don’t see what You are setting me up for, raising me up in the eyes of those around me. I totally miss it!

Forgive me for my blind sidedness. Forgive me for being so caught up in what I am going through that I don’t see what You are doing, how You are forging me through my stuff to be the person that You have purposed me to be. Help me to walk in that knowledge and truth today and everyday, embracing the process and purging, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).” Open my eyes to see in my life today who I am in You and to celebrate Your blessings. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
