I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me…

John 10:14 (ESV)

Lord Jesus, Shepherd of my soul, I rejoice and praise You this morning, grateful for the loving care that You display towards Your servant everyday, not only opening my eyes, tending to my needs, but laying down Your life for me. Through You and by You I have passed through the gate from death to life, from condemnation to justification, from brokenness to sanctification. You have made me whole. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see!

I rejoice today because in You I have been not only granted life and fellowship, but also sonship, being declared with all who call upon Your Name sons and daughters of God. And this is not of our own doing but through Your loving sacrifice. So just as there was nothing I did to obtain it, there is nothing I can do to lose it! Glory, hallelujah!

Thank You for knowing me before I knew You, for loving me before I loved You, and for sacrificing all for me before I was willing to sacrifice for You. Even as You have laid down Your life for me, I commit today to lay down my life for You. I purpose to walk in Your ways, follow Your leading, and enter where You direct me.  Shall go through the gates You open and turn from those You shut.

Lead me, Good Shepherd. Protect me. Direct me. Make me lie down in green pastures. Restore my soul. Then I truly shall truly not want. Amen.
