When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.
Psalm 94:19 (ESV)
Lord Jesus, this verse so ministers to my heart this morning. As I approach a new work week I must confess that it is hard for me to focus on my time with You. My head is being bombarded by all that I failed to get done last week and what I have to get done this week. At the same time, the deadlines are ringing loudly in my head. And then, I remember the commitments I have made to others to help and support them, and what I have and have not done thus far. Only for my head to quickly jump back to the question when I will get it done, seeing that I am behind in so many other areas.
Today, I rush into Your presence, bearing my heart cares in hand, and I lay them at Your feet. I lift up my hands to You and surrender all that I am attempting to carry alone and simply say have Your way. I choose, Lord, to focus my attention on You. I choose to ignore the Martha in me and cater to the Mary who sits at Your feet. Speak to my head and my heart this day. Continue to remind me of what is most important, reminding me that You will not deny me of it. And please peace be still my soul. I look to You this day to grant me what I so desperately need.
Cheer me up by Your power. I worship You, my King. Amen.
