…let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:22 (NIV)

Father God, as I read Your Word this morning I must confess that I have been overwhelmed. This has been quite a week! It has been filled with not just the hustle and bustle of life but also things above and beyond my control. There have been times where I have asked You, as You know, what is going on. I have been tired, frustrated, and just plain confused.

The beginning words of this verse reverberate in my spirit this morning: “let us draw near to God.” That is my aim and desire: to be closer to You. Friday doesn’t mean just the end of my workweek. It points more pointedly as the beginning of my Sabbath approach to You. There is within me not only this sigh of relief that the week is over but also a glimmer of expectation as to what the weekend will hold, coming to a glorious climax with worship on Sunday.

So, in preparation for what You are doing in me and through me right now, I set myself and my heart apart, consecrating my mind and my soul before You. I fully immerse myself in the cleansing power of the blood of Christ. Remove from me all the sin stains that I have carried over this week. Forgive me for my often callous and rebellious heart. Sanctify me by the power of Your Spirit, and draw me closer to You and my Savior. Create in me a clean heart, continuing to do Your mind-blowing work in me. And use me to Your glory. Thank You for loving me, a most unlovable one. Thank You in Jesus Name. Amen.
