Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great:

He appeared in the flesh,

was vindicated by the Spirit,

was seen by angels,

was preached among the nations,

was believed on in the world,

was taken up in glory.

1 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, what makes this verse so marvelous in my eyes is that nothing in it points towards me being the source. It all points to You and Your finished work. You are the Source of true godliness. You are the Wellspring of life from which flows living water to refresh my soul. You are my salvation. Glory to Your Name!

I worship You and praise You this morning, thanking You for not only the free gift of eternal life, but more so for the promise of eternal fellowship with You. To live forever, though it sounds so good and so appealing, means nothing to me without You being there. My soul longs for that day when I will see You face-to-face, fall at Your feet, and worship You. You, Lord, are the definition of what life is. You are Who my soul longs for. I praise You!

Thank You for godliness that is not defined by what I do and do not do, but a godliness that is defined by Your finished work. You justified and sanctified me – not because of works of righteousness which I have done but because You are the God of grace – and have called me Your own. You have filled me with Your Spirit, and have begun this great work within me, promising that You will complete it in the end. And I praise You that though I don’t know what I will be like in the end, You have declared I shall be like You! I don’t deserve it!

I yield today to Your great work in me. Have Your way. Mold me and shape me as You see fit. I’m Yours, Lord. Everything I am. I am completely Yours. Amen!
