LORD, my God, as David declares, You are my light and my salvation. You are that glorious bridge over troubled waters, the “peace be still” of my soul. You are my refuge. You are my joy; may all-in-all plus nothing.
This morning my soul clamors for a rest that this world cannot give. There is welling up from within me a longing that cannot be quenched on this side of eternity. Nothing that comes from my flesh or this world can satiate it. My heart and my soul long for You. Oh, that I might bask in Your presence, feast at Your table, and sit at Your feet! Like Martha I weary of the works that my mind attempts to persuade me are necessary. Instead, usher me to come and rest at Your feet as Mary did, and be consumed by Your presence, and learn of You!
Today, my King, my soul heeds Your call, “Seek my face!” Like David before me, my heart cries out, “Your face, LORD, I will seek!” I rush to the foot of Your cross. I look up towards the hills in search of You. I steal away to that blessed garden where You meet me. I shut the door on the inner room of my heart. And my soul looks to You and says, “Speak, LORD. Your servant is listening.”
Throughout this day, my prayer is that You would just continue to whisper into the ears of my spirit guidance and direction from above, showing me the way into Your presence. It is my desire to follow in Your footsteps, performing Your will, pouring my life into the lives You bring my way, and being the person You have called me to be. LORD, I want to please You. I want to make You smile. I want to show You my gratitude. I want to serve You. It is my deepest longing to love You, praise You, and worship You. I want to glorify You in all ways. Master, this day and everyday I seek Your face! Shine on me to Your glory. Amen.
