He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
Isaiah 40:11 (NIV)
Lord Jesus this morning my soul is so comforted by this glorious image of You gathering Your lambs in Your arms (me) and carrying them close to Your heart. On days like today when I am closing out what has been a tough workweek, I find great comfort in knowing that I am with You, that You are tending to my weary soul, and that You are gently leading me all the way. Far too often I am consumed by the going ons of the day that I forget that I don’t have to do it alone. You stand at the door of my heart knocking. I must only let You in.
So as I finish this workweek I ask for You to just take me by the hand and lead me into this weekend, admonishing me to truly find sabbath rest in You. Show me where I worry too much about the non-consequential things (the Martha in me), or measure faithful living by a list of do’s and don’ts (the rich young ruler in me). Please continue to point me towards what it means to store up treasures where moth and rust don’t corrupt, and where thieves cannot break in and steal (Matthew 6:19). Lord, my heart is with You, my Good Shepard. You are my treasure.
Thank You for keeping me everyday this week and beyond. Thank You for showing me the love I so desperately needed, tending to the deep spiritual wounds that I have consistently neglected, and providing Your Word that I might be nourished. You, my King, my everything.
My soul awaits in glorious anticipation on that day when You will present me unto Yourself. I cannot fathom what that day will be like. I can only imagine. If I get this happy, full of joy, thinking about You and that day’s arrival, what will it be like when I am actually there, beholding You in person? I live for that day. Until then, be glorified in me and through me. Fill me with Your glorious presence. And accept, my God, my worship of You. I love You Jesus. You are my everything. Amen!
