As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
1 Peter 4:2 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, my heart is reflecting this morning on what drives me, what motivates me. Though I am glad to say it is not blatant fulfillment of sinful desires, my soul asks me, “Is it the relentless pursuit of Your presence? Am I consumed with accomplishment or with performing Your will?”
Lord, I want to be able to say today and everyday that I am not living the rest of my earthly life for my human desires but rather for Your will. I am personally tired of being caught up in my feelings and ambitions. Instead, I want to choose today and everyday to glorify You. And I thank You that You have placed within me by the Holy Spirit the very seed to make that happen. Glory to Your Name!
Today, my soul is grateful for the changes that You have brought about in me. I can say with certainty that I no longer want to participate in the reckless, Christ-less living of my past, but I long to please You in all I say and do. You have changed me from the inside out, and caused my actions to speak louder than my words. My deepest desire is that when folks see me they would see You. Master, I live my life for You. Let this day be but another day where folks glorify You for what You are doing in me. Amen.
